VW Volkswagen Vanagon Sun Visor Socket Mount Guide

1. Introduction

A common issue with VW Vanagons has been the driver and passenger side front seat sun visors getting flimsy and floppy due to the original mounts wearing out.

These new mounts are made with tough and durable nylon, a superior material to the plastic used for the original parts and should last for decades to come.

2. Screwed In

To install this part, assuming you have the original clip already removed, align the small hole in the sphere with the brass mini-post of the visor.

Press the new clip firmly down with even pressure- note that the cutaway slot in the side enables the new clip to spread slightly to help clear the visor post's ball joint, but once it has slipped into place you'll hear a tight snap and the visor is ready to be screwed back in. The slot in either mount is intended to face the door on its side.

3. Orientation

Note the slot as pictured in the mount.

4. Alignment

The slotted side is intended to face the door, while the non-slotted side is aligned with the van interior.
